Brunch at Henri Marc // Review

Thursday, March 26, 2015
Australian Beauty Lifestyle Blogger, Henri Marc Review, Blogger Photography, Cafe Review
A few weeks ago, I dragged Bryce and Tiarney off to 'Henri Marc', a great little cafe off High St, Penrith.
We went on a weekday morning, which I definitely recommend if you don't want to wait at least 15 minute for a table (which shows how popular it is, but isn't so fabulous when you are starving and all you can smell is caramel). I'll let the pictures do the talking as to how lovely this place is!

They really nailed the whole 'industrial-vintage-chic' vibe, mismatched cutlery and all!
I ordered the 'pesto on toast with fresh tomatoes, feta, and avocado' (I annoyingly forgot to take a photo of the menu but its called something like that) and oh my goodness, it was delicious. I am a HUGE fan of pesto and this combo of flavors was just divine -and an a+ for presentation right!? I also ordered some caramel toast on the side, and although it was delicious, it is so incredibly sweet that I would recommend sharing between at two people to get through it - and that's coming from someone with the worlds biggest sweet tooth.

The juices come in these 'boot' glasses, how cute!?

Tiarney was really just craving a simple eggs, avocado and toast (not on the menu).

Bryce went for Sour dough bread with chorizo, mushrooms, asparagus, parmesan and eggs which he really enjoyed. Delicious!

Henri Marc is quickly becoming a go-to brunch spot for so many, and for good reason!

Head on over to instagram and peruse #henrimarc if you are left craving a little more food porn (not going to lie, I often do it)

Liebster Award // Tag

Saturday, March 21, 2015
So Sam - from 'Life of Sam' (check out her blog, I love it) nominated me for the 'Liebster Award'.  The award is a tag that aims to share around some new blogs and 'nominate' others to answer some questions. Lets get started!

The 'rules' of the tag are:
1. Thank the person who nominated you (Thanks Sam!)
2. Answer the questions by the nominator
3. Nominate another 11 bloggers (with 200 or less followers) and link them
4. Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer
5. Notify all nominees by blog/social media

Ok, the questions that Sam came up with for me are:

1. Favourite album of all time? Probably Ed Sheeran's '+' or Maroon 5's 'Songs About Jane'
2. Favourite colour? Blue! This is my default answer although I change my mind almost daily...
3. Best achievements, or achievements you're most proud of? Honestly this is going to sound really lame but probably surviving some really bad bullying in the earlier years of highschool. It got really bad and I would honestly say it has made me so much stronger, instead of breaking me.
4. Goals for the future? Travel. Travel. Travel.
5. Most favourite experience? Maybe graduating school? I loved the sense of being in it together. It felt so momentous.
6. 3 habits you have?
      - I press down on my nails when I get stressed
      - I fiddle with any jewellery that I am wearing
      - Whenever I light candles, I always play with the wax and usually end up ruining the candle...
7. Favourite celebrity? Maybe Peter Dinklage? He seems hilarious and I love Game of Thrones. I've never been particularly fussed with celebrity culture though.
8. Best thing you've ever eaten / drunk? I LOVE food so I think this is kind of impossible to answer. Maybe pesto pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, avocado and chicken that I ate at a random cafe in Balmain one time when I was SUPER hungry. I still think about it to this day...
9. Favourite thing to do when you need a 'pick-me-up'? Usually watch youtube videos, chat/hang out with Bryce, have a realllyyyy long shower, or make some yummy food and sit outside in the sun.
10. If you could buy absolutely anything right now what would it be? A fully paid for trip around the world or a house. Or if I were being tricky I could say 'a bank' or 'microsoft' and then sell it ;)
11. What's a random fact about yourself? I think one of life's finest pleasures is putting on a brand new pair of socks. I know, I'm weird.

I nominate:
1. Sam - Sam Indigo
2. Alissa - Words by Femme
3. Cylia - Nosh and Chat
4. Kate - Coconut Allure
5. Amy- A Touch of Pastels
6. Emma - Rosy Disposition
7. Taylor - Taylor de Vil
8. Katina - KatinaLindaa
9. Tiarney - Baker Avenue
10. Bec - Bec and Beauty
11. Nessa - Nessagiron

The questions that I want you guys to answer are:
1. What is the best present you have ever received?
2. What are 5 things that are on your current wishlist?
3. What is your favourite TV show?
4. Which country would you love to live in? (Other than where you live now)
5. What is your idea of a perfect night in?
6. If you won $10,000 right now, and you HAD to spend it within a day, what would you buy?
7. What is your most significant personality trait?
8. If you could witness any event of the past, present or future, what would it be and why?
9. What is a skill you wish you had?
10. What was the last lie you told and why did you tell it?
11. If you could be any age for a week, what would it be and why?

You don't have to do the tag of course but I would love to see your answers, and I really love reading all of your blogs!

Collective Haul // Priceline, Bardot, Apple, Dymocks

So, without realizing it, I have somehow spent a whole bunch o’ money over the last few months.

To kick this off, back in January (28th-29th) Priceline had a massive 40% off all skincare & tanning sale, so I couldn’t resist popping up on my lunch break to pick up a few necessities as well as a few items that I’ve wanted to try out for a while.

$10.00 // $6.00 Each

St Ives has been a favourite brand of mine for quite a while now and I believe that I’ve now tried every type of scrub they have. The oatmeal is the better of the two in my opinion, although I still prefer the standard apricot as my go-to.

$9.00 // $5.40

Anyone who has spent time in an Australian summer will know what a saviour aloe vera gel is. I get really stressed in the heat, so I particularly just like to use this to refresh and cool down after being in the sun.

$11.00 // $6.60 Per twin pack

You can never really have enough of the essentials can you? These are my absolute favourite wipes and when I wear makeup it removes the entire lot with one wipe. I bought 2 twin packs of these to stock up.

Lip Cream // $5.70 // $3.40
Bondi Sands // $20.00 // $12.00

I've wanted to try a Nivea lip butter for a while now and this one smells AMAZING.
As for the Bondi Sands tanning cream, I have heard an abundance of incredible things about this product and now that we are heading into autumn I can’t wait to give this a go and give my skin just a little bit of colour, maybe even do a review...

$10.00 // $6.00 Each

Another stock up on necessities for me with this one. I usually use the cocoa butter one, or the normal one but haven’t tried the aloe yet, so I thought I might as well have a look. The ‘cocoa glow’ smells very strongly of cocoa so I thought the ‘aloe sooth’ might be nice for days when I’m not so keen on smelling like a chocolate bar.
I also made a quick stop into Lovisa after seeing a sale sign. I picked up this selection (and a few more not pictured) of rings & earrings for a total of $20! There was a whole wall of jewellery and it was pick and mix any 8 for $10. I've been particularly loving all the midi rings to layer up for a whole hand of bling.

Priceline had another one of their goody bag specials, AKA my favourite priceline time of the year. I am often a real tight-ass with my money, ESPECIALLY when it comes to beauty products- which is why a whole bag of free things to try out is heaven! This particular time it was 'haircare' but throughout the year they usually do 'skincare' and 'makeup' ones as well. If I'm honest, the haircare stuff is probably a little wasted on me considering I usually opt for the whole 'roll out of bed, brush, leave' hair routine, but it was easy enough to spend $40 on things that I DO use (bobby pins etc) so I figured I couldn’t lose. Here are the things I bought to make up the qualifying $40:

These items were on sale but the receipt doesn't show me the original prices and I can't remember, sorry!
Scunci // Thin Hairties // $4.80
Lady Jayne // Hair Clip // $6.00
Lady Jayne // Tangleze Brush // $10.40
Lady Jayne //  Bobby Pins // $6.40
Scunci // Thick Hairties // $8.00
Scunci // Plastic Hairties // $4.80
Here is everything that came in the goody bag. It actually came with a decent amount of worthwhile stuff (as well as the arbitrary crap which I very kindly handed down to my sisters who were ecstatic about it).

Some of the more worthwhile picks of the bunch
I have been wanting a decent 'cap' for ages now so when I saw a big red sale sign in Bardot, I had to have a look. I have a tiny head so most hats don’t fit me so when I tried this on and it was perfect  (AND with a price tag of only $10) I couldn't resist.

Hat // $10 // Bardot
I don’t know if the iPad technically counts considering I got it for free as part of a Uni promotion, but hey, it’s new. Just a 16gb iPad air, perfect for schoolwork.

Love, Tanya // $24.95 // Dymocks
Last but definitely not least, the lovely Tanya Burrs semi-autobiography 'Love, Tanya'. As a long time subscriber of this incredibly successful – and gorgeous! -  youtuber, I have been astounded at how far technology and social media is able to take us these days. This book is fabulous, and such an easy read. It’s the kind of book I pick up and read a chapter whenever I am feeling down, or wanting to wind down. I loved reading the ‘growing up’ chapters and learning more about her life and the person she is away from the camera, and I also loved the baking chapter. Also, the photos scattered throughout the book are simply STUNNING. Good on you Tanya!

Ahhh, writing this makes me think of how much money COULD be in my bank account…Oh well. Hope you enjoyed having a peak at my latest purchases!
